Bennett Foreign Language Program (BFLP)
What is BFLP? A non-profit organization offering before-school world language classes at Bennett Elementary School. BFLP classes are a fun way to become familiar with another language and culture in a non-threatening environment. The Bennett Foreign Language Program is run by a board of committed parent volunteers who hire the teaching staff and manage the program.
Who can take classes? This program is available to all elementary school students. Non-Bennett students and home-schooled children are welcome.
What classes are offered? Spanish, French, Japanese and Mandarin Chinese. The classes vary according to demand and will be determined after the early enrollment deadline, based on the number of enrollments in each language.
When and where are classes held? All language classes are held twice a week in Bennett classrooms from 8:00a.m. to 8:50a.m. The program runs from October 3rd to May 31th.
How large are the classes? Class size is limited to 12 students. Student placement is awarded on a first-come-first-serve basis. Two options are available if a class is full: 1) Submit student’s name to a waiting list; or 2) Register for an alternate choice class. Being on a wait list does not guarantee a spot will open up.
What if my kids need to be enrolled on specific days? If you require classes on particular days, please include this information in the "special instruction to the merchant" section on PayPal's checkout page. We will do our best to accommodate your request.
We have modified our schedule from past years, as we and the teachers have observed that the students work best in peer groups. Children will be assigned a class based on grade level this fall.
How do I get on the waiting list? Please contact the registrar by email wtih your child's name, grade entering in September and what class(s) you're interested in.
