Principal's Post
This is the last Friday Flier before the new calendar
year. I hope that everyone enjoys the upcoming
vacation. Here are a few pieces of information and reminders
for parents.
Checking in to
the main office
If you plan on coming to school to volunteer or simply visit your
child for lunch or recess, please come to the office for check-in and
check-out. This involves parents signing their name and time of
arrival and departure. We also ask that all volunteers and
visitors wear a Bennett Bulldog lanyard so that students and staff
know they have a purpose on campus. Lately, we've had a
few parents walk on to campus during recess or come in through the
side doors without checking in. For the sake of safety, please
do not do this. A high percentage of the volunteers and visitors
follow our check-in and check-out procedure, so I do want to commend
the folks who are doing it right. For those who need a reminder, we
are needing your help on this. Thanks.
Lockdown
Each month, we do a school wide emergency drill. Our next
drill, for December, will be a lockdown. While our Safety
Committee discussed details about the drill, the question about
parent communication came up. More specifically, what should we do in a real
lockdown if parents call the school or classrooms?
Answer: No students or staff will answer the phone during a
lockdown. During such an event, we do not want anyone or any
area of the building to be the center of focus. If there is
ever such an unfortunate event, we would contact parents at the
conclusion of the lockdown.
Kindergarten
Meeting Night
Our annual Kindergarten Meeting Night is set for Thursday, January 29
@ 6:30-7:30 pm. in the school library. This meeting is to
inform the parents of 2009-10 kindergarten students of the
registration process as well as helpful tips to further prepare
students for school. Registration packets will be available starting
that evening and subsequently, in the office.

Club
The Bennett Service Club needs your HELP! The
Service Club members would like to hold a supply drive of some sort

outside of King County . Any suggestions of organizations that
can match our donations to people in need would be greatly
appreciated. If you know of such an organization, please send
its name and a description to Mrs. Bolivar or Ms. Slatt. (bolivarj@bsd405.org
or slatts@bsd405.org)
Thank you from all the Service Club members.
